Dear user of FrenchClozePlus (version 2.0):

Welcome to "FCP2000", the latest update of FrancoPhil's
flagship software tutorial program for learning French .
FCP2000 is, as were earlier versions, a JavaScripted program
that will function only if accessed -- offline -- in the Netscape 3.0
(or later) Navigator or in Microsoft's IE browser version 3.02 or later.

A comprehensive introduction to FCP2000 is found in the
"readme.txt" file and also in the "HelpMe.htm" file. The latter
can be accessed (via a similarly-named button in the main
menu screen). [ HelpMe.htm, of course, can be opened in either
browser directly after installing FCP2000. ]

Before installing FCP2000 (as FrenchCP) on your computer, you
should know that the installation file ("FCP2000.exe") will install
some of the more than 465 files (247 in the Lite version) in a main
directory (FrenchCP) of your computer's C:\ drive and others in
several subdirectories (MChoice, Quizzes, and VPrac etc). [ If,
however, you wish to install FrenchCP elsewhere, you may do so
by typing in the appropriate destination when you are given an
opportunity to change the default destination as written in the
installation screen that appears when you first click on "FCP2000.exe".
The subdirectories, however, would have to be installed as programmed ! ]
It's best to simply allow the FCP2000.exe file to self-extract as it is
programmed to do. [ For those of you who have installed an earlier
version, simply delete your current "FrenchCP" folder and its
subfolders or rename FrenchCP something else.]

Once you have located and successfully opened "chezmoi.htm", the
homepage, the main menu is displayed together with five ever-present
buttons in a screen-bottom frame The HelpMe button, when clicked,
will bring up a comprehensive and detailed guide.

Before proceeding with the installation of FCP2000, do read the
readme.txt file. Then read TIPS and the PreView files -- once you
have loaded or accessed the tutorial's main menu ("chezmoi.htm").

If you encounter any problem while, or after, installing FCP2000 as
FrenchCP on your computer, you may reach me by e-mail at:

Good luck or Bonne chance!
