To the user of FCP2000 - FrenchClozePlus (version 2.0):

To access the startup screen (Main Menu) of FrenchClozePlus, access first
Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later (or Microsoft's IE browser - version 3.02 or later)
and then open "chezmoi.htm" (the main, or startup, menu) by accessing it via
Netscape's (or IE's) own top-of-screen menu...and drop-down menu.

[ Another way of opening the tutorial is the following: Copy this:
"C:\FrenchCP\chezmoi.htm" (excluding the " " marks)...and then paste that
address in the empty text field that appears when the Open option is
clicked. Then when you click OK, the tutorial will be loaded. ]

Once in the homepage (Main Menu), you may proceed immediately to select
a quiz or exercise submenu. On the other hand, you may prefer, first, to read
the "HelpMe.htm" file by clicking the HelpMe button at the bottom of the screen.
That HelpMe file provides, among many other things, details about the use of
Microsoft's browser (IE) to access and work with the tutorial. It is highly
recommended that you read the TIPS file which you can readily access from the
main menu. To see and/or read the English version of the Francophone texts
that have been integrated in this tutorial, click on the hyperlink labelled "PreView"
in the opening page.

After completing an exercise successfully, you may wish to return to an
exercise or quiz menu. Using the "Back" option that appears on the mouse
menu, (or on IE's toolbar: as left arrow) you may quite easily return to that menu.
The small "-Help-" button when clicked will provide very useful guidelines. In
this respect it is suggested that you also read the "HelpMe.htm" file. Other
navigational techniques are explained in that hypertextual page.

Consider the following suggestion: Attempt the very challenging cloze-type
exercises only after you have completed at least some of the other types
of "quizzes" or exercises.

When you click the HelpMe button, there will appear at the very top of the
file several HYPERLINKS: one to a nenu of Multiple-choice problems, one to
a menu of LexExerciseS, another to a menu of Short-answer quizzes, and
a fourth to a menu of Cloze-type quizzes. The LexExerciseS and the Multiple-
choice Quizzes are perhaps the menus whose quizzes you would find
easiest to work with. Thus you may wish to access initially any one of those
menus' eight (or 16) exercises. They will give you, the user, an opportunity to
view both the French text and its English-language equivalent: side by side.
[ The English equivalent is accessed either via a reference in the menu or
by sliding to the bottom of the Multi-Choice quiz's left frame or window, and
then clicking on the hyperlinked reference located there. ]

A similar presentation may be requested (via an icon or hyperlink ) from the
Short-answer and Cloze-type exercise menus.

While in the MChoice quiz, you may wish to expand the quiz area by moving
that frame's right border several inches to the right when you are ready to
click on answers. The wider view will provide more uniformity to the
formatted text...and make it perhaps easier to read...particularly if you
are navigating in Microsoft's IE browser.

Good luck! (or... "Bonne chance!")
