1. WHAT IS CATRAXX?
----------------------------------------

CATraxx is a powerful database program designed to help you catalog
and manage your music collection. CATraxx will let you catalog all
media types, including CDs, LPs, cassettes, mini discs, and MP3s.
CATraxx supports CDDB - the worlds largest music database. Simply
insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive, and CATraxx will download the
CD data from the Internet. Designed for the Windows environment,
CATraxx is comprehensive, intuitive, and easy to use.

You can work with an unlimited number of databases. This means
you can split your collection into different catalogs. CATraxx
allows you to change the data field names to suit your personal
preferences. You can also hide the data fields you don't want to
use. Ultimately, this means you can customize the CATraxx database
to suit your needs.

CATraxx has a comprehensive set of data fields for both albums
and tracks, enabling you to catalog a wide range of information:
artist, album title, media format, release year, label, catalog
number, purchase price, current value, music category, playing
time, song titles, songwriters, producers, recording studios,
musicians and instruments. You can store an image of the album
cover, attach a MP3 file to each track, and add your own personal
comments for both albums and tracks.

CATraxx will help you catalog your MP3 file collection. You can
automatically create albums from folders containing MP3 files
(this could be folders on your hard drive, or folders on a CD-R
disc). CATraxx will read artist, title, year, and genre from the
MP3 ID3 tag. You can play MP3s, create MP3 play lists, and export
play lists for use by Winamp (or other players).

You can effectively find the information you are looking for by
using the search and filter features. CATraxx allows you search
your database with any combination of data fields and operators.

CATraxx includes a report designer that lets you create
professional looking reports with exactly the layout you want.
Use one of the more than 100 pre-defined reports, or create your
own reports from scratch. You have full control over data fields,
groups, sort order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins
and print orientation. CATraxx lets you preview reports on screen
before printing, or save reports in virtually any file format.

You can quickly generate documents to be published on the
Internet. The loan module lets you keep track of albums on loan.
Check the program periodically to see what is still out on loan.
You will always know who has what and since when.

The statistics module allows you to analyze your collection in a
variety of ways. CATraxx lets you track your initial investment
and the total value of your collection. Use the backup function
to make backup copies of your valuable data. With the built-in CD
controller you can control the playback of audio CDs in your CD-ROM
player.

CATraxx uses popup menus for quick feature access and navigation.
CATraxx comes with a sample database to get you started and a
comprehensive, context sensitive on-line help system.

2. FEE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF SHAREWARE VERSION
----------------------------------------------------

Disk Vendors, Shareware Distributors and BBS(s) may have
charged a nominal fee for the distribution of the shareware
version of CATraxx. This fee does not constitute payment for
the licensed version of CATraxx, and does not entitle the
end-user to use the shareware version for longer than the
30-day evaluation period.

5. VERSION HISTORY
----------------------------------------------------

5.10.00 - April 24, 2002

* Upgraded help system to HTML Help.
* New field: Track.Original by (linked to the Artist lookup table).
Use this field to store the artist that recorded the original
version if a song is a cover version.
* CATraxx automatically fills in the First Name and Last Name fields
when submitting disc data to CDDB.
* It is now possible to group and filter on track fields (for
example Producer or Studio) in the Browse window. This lets you,
for example, get an overview of albums produced by a specific
  producer.
* You can copy the contents of the browse list to the clipboard
(right-click the list and choose 'Copy to Clipboard' from the
  popup menu).
* MP3: Added support for ID3v2 tags.
* MP3: Added a new command to rescan folders previously scanned.
CATraxx will rescan folders containing MP3 files, add new MP3
files not already in the database, and delete tracks that link
to MP3 files that have been deleted.
* MP3: You can now play all MP3 tracks on an album without having
to create a playlist (simply right-click the track list in the
Tracks window and choose Play All from the popup menu).
* MP3: Track Edit window: All MP3 commands on the File menu moved
  to the new MP3 menu.
* MP3: Improved the 'Attach MP3 Files' command.
* MP3: You can color code MP3 tracks in the Track View window
(choose Tools->Preferences->Misc to set this up).
* Updated the layout of the CATraxx Explorer window, added
Back/Forward/Copy buttons, and a button to change the font size.
In addition, when viewing an album you can now click a track
title to explore this track. To "go back" to the album, click
Album in the menu to the left (or simply click the Back button).
* The Playlist Manager is now merged with the Tracks window. In
addition, the playlist now includes the album title, and you can
  resize the columns.
* You can use special codes in URLs you add to the Sites menu
(%TITLE%, %ARTIST%, %LABEL%	and %YEAR%). The code is replaced with
the field value from the active album when you select the menu item.
For example, to search All Music Guide for the selected album title,
  use the following URL:
     http://www.allmusic.com/cg/x.dll?P=AMG&opt1=2&sql=%TITLE%
* CATraxx now supports the use of a bar code scanner when checking
albums in and out of the library. CATraxx will handle any bar
code scanner that enters data via a keyboard interface. (These
are often referred to as "wedge" readers as they wedge themselves
in between the keyboard and your computer.) To use this feature,
you will have to enter the bar code number for all albums and all
  borrowers.
* You can place reservations for albums.
* You can send e-mail notifications to borrowers. This could be a
reminder that an album should be returned soon, a notification that
an album is overdue, or a notification that a reserved album is
  ready for collection.
* The 'Delete Unused Items' window now includes information about
whether a lookup item has attached images, and whether the memo
field contains something. By default, such items are not deleted.
* If you haven't specified the counter stop position for the
previous track, CATraxx will automatically fill it in when you
save the current track. For example, if the start counter for
the current track is 1:15:00, CATraxx will fill in the same
counter in the Counter Stop field for the previous track.
* In the 'Track Edit' window you can use shortcut keys to open the
"Select Multimedia File" window (F9 to select audio file and F10
  to select video file).
* Added a new Maintenance function on the Tools menu allowing you to
perform various database maintenance tasks (for example regenerate
thumbnails, and update the Track.Released and Track.Genre fields).
* When you switch to another browse layout (in the Browse window or
'Track View' window) the current album/track does not change (in
previous versions the first album/track was activated).
* To delete a record in the 'Loan History' window, simply right-click
and choose Delete from the popup menu.
* Added the ability to export links to multimedia files.
* New property for all songwriter fields in reports: Last Name Only.
* You can now drag a report file from Windows Explorer and drop it on
the main CATraxx window. CATraxx will automatically copy the report
file to the Report folder and add the report to the Report menu.
Zipped report files are also supported.
* CD Player: Now works correctly under Windows XP.
* CD Player: Added support for multimedia keyboard (to start/stop
playback and go to next/previous track).
* CD Player: Added a Refresh command to the View menu (useful if you
modify the disc data in CATraxx and want the CD Player to display
  the updated information).
* Upgraded to the latest CDDB Control version (1.2.0.45).
* BUG FIX: Vertical gap between labels not set correctly.

using the Import / Text File command.

the data field was located on a group header band.

* BUG FIX: Send e-mail button did not work if email client was specified
  in preferences.
* BUG FIX: Paper size reset to A4 in 'Page Setup' window.
* BUG FIX: DBCalc fields not reset if printing a report for the second
time from the 'Report Options' window.
* BUG FIX: Problem with the 'Deleted Unused Items' when deleting items
  in the SPARS lookup table.
* BUG FIX: Error when trying to compact a database if using the
Access 2000 database engine and locale was set to either
"Norwegian and Danish" or "Swedish and Finnish".
* Various other minor fixes and enhancements.

5.01.01 - December 12, 2001

* CD Player: New Autoplay option. When this is activated the player
will automatically start playing when you insert a new CD.
* CATraxx Explorer: You can now use Ctrl+C to copy the selected text
  to the clipboard.

  activated.
* BUG FIX: Explore command on lookup fields popup menu not available
if 'Automatic edit' was disabled in preferences.

dialog box if standard decimal separator was set to '.' in Control

  Web Links field was empty.

  Windows XP.
* BUG FIX: Line objects not converted when opening old (version 3/4)
  reports.
* BUG FIX: Artist statistics did not work.
* BUG FIX: Last letter in track list (Album.Tracks) not printed
if each track was printed on a separate line.

  when TAB was selected.
* BUG FIX: Error ("Access Violation") when modifying filter/sort
order in 'Report Options' window after first printing/previewing
  the report.
* BUG FIX: Error when searching web links/file links fields.
* BUG FIX: Long dates not formatted correctly.
* BUG FIX: 'If Empty' settings not used when printing the browse list
grouped by a date or numeric field.

5.00.02 - September 24, 2001

* Added support for the new CDDB genre system.
NOTE! You should upgrade to this version since old versions of
CATraxx will not handle the new genres properly (for example,
Rock/Folk-Rock will be registered as Easy Listening/Acoustic Rock
  and Rock/Hard Rock as Industrial/Rock).
* BUG FIX: Border sometimes printed around report objects.
* BUG FIX: Problem with multi column reports (record at the bottom of
one column reprinted at the top of the next column).
* BUG FIX: Regenerate Reference No command didn't work when the 'Reset
Numbering' option was activated (numbering did't start from 1 again).

  list in preferences.

5.00.01 - September 17, 2001

* Added the ability to sort tracks in "the order ripped" (that is,
by the file modified property) when scanning a folder for MP3
files (uncheck the 'Sort by file name' option in the 'Scan Folder'
window). This affects the order the tracks are displayed in the
  'Tracks' window.
* BUG FIX: Run-time error ("EInvalidPointer") when closing the program.
* BUG FIX: When saving a CATraxx Explorer page to disk, the resulting
html page showed wrong info if the Browse window was active.
* BUG FIX: When executing a search criteria added to the Search menu,
the Track View was not displayed if the Show All option was activated
  when searching for tracks.
* BUG FIX: Album/track length not formatted correctly in grouping list
if grouping on Playing Time or Length.

5.00.00 - September 7, 2001

* Version 5 released.
