DIRP uses Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), the DLLs to which reside
in your system directory. Unfortunately, these files can get out of date if you
do not update your system regularly, and you may get an error message similar to the
following when you try to print:

"Ordinal xxxx was not found in MFC42.DLL"

This means that your version of MFC needs to be updated, and I've included
a utility (vc6redistsetup_enu.exe) that will update MFC on your system. Note that
this will update English versions of Windows9x/NT; other localizations will require a visit to
Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com so that the appropriate redistributable may be obtained.

If DIRP works "as is" for you, I recommend that you do NOT run vc6redistsetup_enu.

vc6redistsetup_enu is a Microsoft Product which I downloaded from their website; should you
have easy access to the Internet, I would recommend that you download the most
recent version of vc6redistsetup_enu; I provide the current version here only as a courtesy.

Networked Printers: DIRP does not recognize network printers during Setup.
Consequently, if you have ONLY network printers you will NOT be able to install DIRP, nor
can you choose a network printer as a fixed printer should you have mixtures of networked
and local printers. To use a network printer nevertheless, follow the following procedure:

(1) Create a local printer if one does not exist. This does not have to be a functional printer, but the
icon MUST show up in the printers folder. DIRP will see this printer and allow the installation
to proceed.

(2) In the "Defaults" tab, choose "Use Default Printer"

(3) When it comes time to print, choose your network printer as the default printer (right-click on
the desired printer in the Printers folder and choose "Set as Default"). When you are
finished printing, set the default printer back to what it was.
