McSerialnumber 1.2 for Windows
------------------------------
McSerialnumber application is a cross-platform serial number generator and
administration tool for developers completely available on Windows now.

We offer one registration for both platforms.

After registration of the McSerialnumber application you are enabled
to create a decoder library to use with Microsoft Visual C++ or
Microsoft Visual Studio 5 or any newer version of both.

A C++ header file is included to have access to the decoder API.
The distribution contains an installer to easy load or uninstall the software.

What can I do with it?
----------------------
McSerialNumber is a simply but secure solution for developers to
generate unique serial numbers using a master key and a customers names.
The generated serial number will be stored in a database, which
can hold additional customer information like e-mail, address and phone number.

All information can be imported and exported from or to a text file using
customizable text delimiter fields.

The application offers basic database functionality (store, delete, sort and
find) and I'm not planning to incorporate more sophisticated features because
for any advanced use you can easily export to any sort of real databases.

The user interface of the application is simple and self explaining because I
skipped all the so called nice-looking gadgets in favor of ease of use.

What's new in 1.2?
------------------
Since McSerialnumber 1.0 and 1.1 was a success on the Macintosh I ported
the Application and added an appropriate library to use with Microsoft
Compilers for Windows95/98 and NT. I've implemented all features of the
Macintosh version if available on Windows.

How can I work with it?
-----------------------
McSerialnumber 1.2 for Windows is as it's predecessor 1.0 and 1.1 on the
Macintosh a demo version which is fully functional except you will not find
the library export enabled to get a library to implement a serialization
mechanism into your application.

Feel free to play around and give it to friends and colleges but register
if you find it useful.

Again keep in mind only the registered version will enable you to create the
Microsoft Visual C++ compatible library uniquely serialized with your
master key code number to use with your development environment. You can
change the master key as often you want and regenerate newly serialized
libraries at any time.

McSerialnumber can be used on Windows 95/98 and NT (4.x) as well as Mac OS
from System Software Version 7.1 and newer. On the PC the minimal requirement
is a 486 type of microprocessor or any newer Pentium. On Macintosh it needs
Color Quickdraw/HW and at least a 68020 Processor or a Power PC.

Combining all Libraries you will be enabled to use it for all of your
cross-platform developments on almost every CPUs running Windows95/98/NT and
every available Macintosh (no FPU needed)!

You can download the Macintosh version of McSerialnumber 1.2
(which offers 3 libraries 68k/PPC/x86 for Metrowerks C/C++ compilers)
from my Webside: http://hometown.aol.com/mcwareusa

The system security scheme basicly uses 3 different 64-bit numbers to build a
registration solution for your application to build in:

1. A serial number generated by the McSerialnumber application
2. A master key number for a series of serial numbers which you create and
   enter in the Preferences Dialog
3. A serial key which is generated internally when you create your set of
libraries. It uniquely serializes your libraries.

You actually never see the serial key number which is always unique to your
library and provides an additional security feature to protect your
application master key number.

How much does it cost?
-----------------------
McSerialnumber 1.2 for Windows is as it's predecessors published as
Shareware for a US$ 15 single license fee.
Please read the included License Agreement for further information.

You can find more detailed information in the McSerialnumber Readme.rtf
file after the installation.
