MainFrameTrigger(MFT)

Purpose:
--------
MFT is a program that will allow Mainframe jobs to be scheduled from a windows based PC to run at a specific time on a Mainframe computer.
This is a full function demo version with a time and use limit.

Requirements:
-----------------------------
1. Windows 95,98,NT
2. PC must be connected to a network.
3. Mainframe must be connected to a network and must have a tcpip address.
4. Mainframe must be running MVS and TSO

This system is designed for an organization where there is a need to schedule jobs to run on the Mainframe on an ad hoc basis. The Mainframe would be typically IBM, Amdahl, or Hitachi.
The user of the system might be programmer running test jobs overnight, a department running on request jobs or any number of other situations where a full large scale scheduler is not needed.

This is a full function demo version that gives you a limited number of days and uses to try the system before it asks you to register your copy.
The price is $150.00 at which time we will send you a code that is based on the user id you give us. This will allow you to register your version of the software.

Installation Instructions:
--------------------------
If you downloaded a file called MFTzip.exe from the company website, you have a self extracting zip file with everything you need to get started with MainFrameTrigger.

If you downloaded a file called MFT.zip from some other source, you may not have the visual basic runtime modules needed to run the system. You can go back to the same source to download and install the "VB6 runtime" modules or go to the website and download the self extracting version.

Once you extract the files you will have this readme.txt, a setup.exe, a license.txt plus additional files.
You can put this collection in any directory you want.

You should then click on the setup.exe which will start the installation process. Unless you want
the executable files in a certain spot, you can use the defaults which will create a directory called MFT under the Program Files directory.

Most users will want to create a shortcut on their desktop by dragging the MFT.exe in the Program Files / MFT directory to the desktop. I did not put the icon on the desktop as that should be your choice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Execution Instructions:
-----------------------
1. When the program starts you will see the interface with several buttons. The first labeled User Information/Logon will allow you to enter your TSO id and TSO password. The User field will be filled in when the program is registered. Your TSO id will be remembered and filled in for you but password will not be saved. It must be entered every time MFT is started.

-- User information(tso id and password) must be entered. This will be your access to the Mainframe.

 2. Mainframe Information is the next button.
This screen will gather all information you need to submit and run jobs on a Mainframe running MVS and TSO.
Move your cursor down to the area called Add a new location
- Enter a Mainframe location or some identifying name.
- enter the TCPIP address for this Mainframe location. Tcpip is typically something like 111.11.11.11.
You may have to contact the systems department to get this number.

3.The next area needed to run a job is jobcard information.
Complete the jobcard with your jobname(could be your Tsoid), the correct class and msgclass for your installation. This jobcard is freeform and can be replaced with any jobcard that will work in your installation.
It can be set up for a very quick running mainframe job.
- The internal reader defaults to class E but your system may be different and can be changed on the screen.

3. Schedule jobs
When you are ready to submit a job you can click this button. You should test the setup by submitting a job before relying on the system.
- Select the Mainframe location. If there is only one, it will be the default
- Select the date for the job to run. It can be today, tomorrow or a date of your choosing
- Select the time to run by clicking on the hour, minute and am/pm buttons
- Enter a job name or Select an entry from previous jobs.
You need the library(usually 3 levels) and member. ex.- user.jcl.lib(member)
Quotes around the library/jobname are not needed.

4. The status button will allow you to check jobs waiting to run and
jobs that have run. The system remembers all jobs that have run but you may want to delete old jobs occasionally.

 ***********************************************************************
Most important - MFT has to be running at the time you want your job to run.
You need to leave your PC running, connected to the network and with MFT running.
