1) How can I export diagrams from ProxyDesigner to other Office applications or image files?

There's currently no functionality in ProxyDesigner v1.0.1 to export diagrams to .gif or other formats, although this is a likely feature for us to include in our next release.

In the meantime, the best way for you to get your diagrams out of ProxyDesigner and into other programs is to do a screen capture. You can make a screen capture of the ProxyDesigner window by:

	a. Clicking on the ProxyDesigner window
	b. Pressing the <CTRL> + <Print Screen> keys on your keyboard simultaneously
	c. Going to another application such as Word or PowerPoint and pasting the screen capture using Edit -> Paste

You'll probably want to use the "crop" tool in these programs to edit out everything other than the diagram itself.

Alternatively, at step c above, you could paste the screen capture into a image editing program such as Microsoft Paint, select the area of the diagram you wish to use, copy and paste it into a new picture, and then save that as a .gif or other format.

2) How can I change the size and orientation of my ProxyDesigner drawing area?

There is currently no support in ProxyDesigner v1.0.1 for modifying the size and orientation of the drawing area. In our next release we plan to make the drawing area responsive to the paper size and orientation. We are also exploring adding support for multiple pages within a design.

3) How can I draw a standard UML inheritance association in ProxyDesigner?

In order to make the standard inheritance symbol, drag an association symbol into your design area, and change the following properties:

	Arrowhead: 1 - {---->}
	Arrowhead style: outline
	Arrowhead height: 20

You can add this to the "UML Basic" catalog by copying it from the drawing area (select the line -> right mouse click -> copy) and pasting it into the catalog (click inside the catalog -> right mouse click -> paste).

There is currently a known bug in ProxyDesigner v1.0.1 where the arrowhead style in a catalog symbol is not stored. As a consequence, you will need to set the arrowhead style to outline after dragging it into the draw area. You may want to do this once during your design, and copy the inheritance association inside your diagram using a CTRL+drag operation. In this way the arrowhead style will be retained.

We are working to resolve these issues in the next release of ProxyDesigner.

4) How can I obtain documentation and help files for ProxyDesigner v1.0.1?

The user's manual and help files for the ProxyDesigner v1.0.1 are not currently available. We plan to have these completed with our next release. If you've checked "yes" in your user profile to the "Please notify me by e-mail of new features and products offered by ProxySource.com" option, we'll let you know when this is available.

In the meantime, we would be happy to answer any questions you might have on how to use our product. Just click here to submit your question.

5) What do I do when I get a "Host Not Found" or "Host Failed" Error using ProxyDesigner?

This problem can occur when you are using a proxy server for your internet connection. You can set your proxy settings by selecting Publish -> Setup from the ProxyDesigner menu and entering the requested information. If you are unsure how to set these fields, you can look for the appropriate values in:

*	Internet Explorer (under Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings ->(and if necessary) Advanced, or

*	Netscape (under Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies -> (and if necessary) View).

Our development team is aware of the confusion this issue can sometimes cause, and plans to make the next version of the product automatically use the proxy settings from the operating system in a future release of ProxyDesigner.

6) How can I publish and share my designs on-line?

You can publish your designs on-line by following these steps:

	a. Make sure you have given your design a title and description. You can set these fields by clicking in the background of your design, selecting the "Design" tab on the property sheet, and entering data in the fields labelled "Description" and "Title"
	b. Save your design to a file using the File -> Save As... command on the ProxyDesigner menu.
	c. Select Publish -> Server from the ProxyDesigner menu. A dialog will be displayed with your publishing options.
	d. Select the category that best describes your design from the drop down box.
	e. Click on the button labeled "File..." and select the file you wish to upload.

Once you have uploaded your design, you can see it by going following this link:

and clicking on the category to which you published your design.
