        Filenaming conventions for the Power Engines and ClusterView

The ZIP/ARJ/LZH files used for distribution of the various products
associated with ClusterView follow a single pattern of filenaming.
It allows automatic recognition of the origin of file and its contents.

The compression methode (PKZip, LHArc, or other) is not impacted by this
method and should be selected by the BBS according to local rules.

There are two different rules depending on the status of the package. It
can be shareware (unregistered) and then follows the rule of

2 character name + 3 character version + 3 character OS + archive suffix

CL=ClusterView        105=v1.05  WNT=Windows NT    ZIP=PKZip-compressed
BI=BitList Engine     ...        W95=Windows 95    LZH=LHArc-compressed
YG=YGrep Search Eng.             W98=Windows 98    ...
...                              ...

It can be a registered package. Then the rule is slightly different.
This should not be encountered in BBS or Internet distribution sites.

2 char. name + 3 char. major version + 1 char. minor version +
               2 char. type name + archive suffix

CL=ClusterView          105_=1.05       RG=Registered     ZIP=PKZip-compressed
BI=BitList Engine       105A=1.05a      SC=Source license LZH=LHArc-compressed
AG=AGrep Search Engine  ...             SI=Site license   ...
YG=YGrep Search Engine                  MA=Manuals
...                                     ...

To avoid problems when set on CD-ROM, none of the file names will contain
characters incompatible with the ISO-9660 standard (A-Z, 0-9, _ only).
