This program enables you to draw sky charts, according to the data
of 16 catalogues of stars and nebulae, as well as the position of
planets, asteroids and comets.

Installation :
--------------
0.	This program work with Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT4, 2000 or XP .
A Pentium processor and 32MB of RAM is recommended.

1.	Run the installation program and indicate where you want to install the
	software. For example " C:\CIEL "

2.	Cartes du Ciel use OpenGL to render the planet image.
Some graphic card driver have poor OpenGL implementation and the program
crash at startup or when drawing a planet.
If this occur try one of the following :
	- Rerun the program a second time, OpenGL must be automatically disabled.
	- Disable hardware acceleration in the Windows Display Property.
	- Update your video driver from the manufacturer web site or
	  from www.glsetup.com
	- Run "Start Menu - Program - Cartes du Ciel - Repair Installation" and
select the option 6 to totally disable the use of OpenGL in the program.

3.	If you use Win95 and have an old copy of COMCTL32.DLL in \windows\system
(file older than 08/24/96) you must upgrade to the last
	version from Microsoft at :
	http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/ieplatform/ie/comctrl.asp
You may also have to install MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL if you use an
	old Win95.

4.	See "readme.txt" or "doc.html" for more information.

Initialization:
---------------
After installation, the program is configured to use "Bright Stars" as star catalogue.
To use other star catalogues you might have installed, it is necessary to launch
the program and then click on "Catalogues Parameters", enter 45 in "Field Min." for
" Bright Stars Catalog ". Activate the check box for the new catalogues,
for example: "Sky2000 ", " Tycho Catalog", " Tycho Input Catalog".
Check if there is no overlap in the "Min. and Max." field width for the catalogues,
and indicate 0 for the "Min." of the last catalogue entry.
If a catalogue is installed in another directory, adjust the field " File " correspondingly.

You do not have to modify all these parameters immediately after installation,
because they can be adjusted later according to your requirements.
See the online help for more details on the initialization procedure.

From version 2.6 the new default catalog for the nebulae is the SAC 7.1 database.
Beware this file is not compatible with the version 2.5.
I suggest to the users of an older version to change the catalogs parameters to
take account of this change. Simply remove the check box for the other nebulae
catalogs and check the SAC with a field of vision from 0 to 360 degrees.
Don't forget to save the default options.

In some peculiar network configuration your modem can dial-up when you start ciel.exe, or
your network is not detected and the "Online resources" function stay grayed. To solve this
problemes, run "options.exe" and choice "1 Do not control network presence at startup".

Removing the program:
---------------------
To completely remove this program you have to use the Windows uninstall utility,
then erase all remaing files from the installation directory.

Terms and conditions :
