KPKFile v6.2 is a suite of encryption tools for Windows platforms (Windows 9x,
ME, NT and 2000). A common interface provides access to two separate functions:
1. File encryption and file wiping. 2. Private Folder.

1. FILE ENCRYPTION AND FILE WIPING: KPKFile packs files in binary code that can
be inoculated inside another still working above suspicion file. The option
is useful if you want the maximum of privacy and if you wish to hide that you
are hiding something (in fact, note that the use itself of encrypted files can
be unsafe). Drag and drop allows you to pick up files on Desktop, Explorer, or
your favourite email program, drag them around the display, and drop in KPKFile.
Encoding is coupled with a powerful compression algorithm to reduce file size.
File deletion is always automatically preceded by multiple data changing to make
useless file undeletion. Finally, erase function allows to wipe files from disk
drive or from Recycled Bin. For instance, I suggest to you to drag and drop files
contained inside Recycle Bin to destroy them completely.

2. PRIVATE FOLDER: The program manages a secret folder (named Private Folder) in
which you can store a tree of subdirectories. Private Folder is a regular directory,
which can be managed out of KPKFile interface too. Moreover, the program can close
and hide a pre-existent folder. Distinct Private Folders can be created by different
passwords, hence many users are allowed to have their own Private Folder on same
computer. Besides, password manager feature allows managing eight Private Folders
by one password. Each folder data are automatically saved in two encrypted files
residing in Windows directory. Recent data are stored in (xxxxxxxx).dat file.
The (xxxxxxxx).old archive retains last session but one. If needed, old folder data
file can be automatically recovered. Folder deletion is always preceded by multiple
data changing to make useless file undeletion.

KPKFile FILES
The program creates the following files residing in WINDOWS (or WINNT) directory:
- (xxxxxxxx).dat and (xxxxxxxx).old for each Private Folder. These two files
   contain folder data.
- KPKFile.ini. This file contains KPKFile setup data.
- KPKFile.pwa. This file is created in case of Password Manager feature use.

KPKFile FILES BACKUP
It is advisable to backup former files (as any other sensitive file on your computer)
to avoid loss of data in case of HD failure.
To backup KPKFile files simply copy them into a safe directory.
To restore KPKFile files simply copy them into WINDOWS (or WINNT) directory.

INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING
In case of installation problems, I suggest to perform the following simple
manual installation. Please, follow these 3 steps:
1. Verify the existence on your computer of the VB6 runtime dll, msvbvm60.dll.
If you do not have that in your windows\system (or system32 for NT) directory,
you can download it directly from simtel.com or download.cnet.com.
2. Extract KPKFILE.EXE from KPKFILE.CAB file using WINZIP.
3. Create a shortcut to KPKFILE.EXE.

KPKFile is freeware and freely distributable without limitations in its present form.
