ALC-Record
For rerording of LPs or MCs to write a CD it is important that the maximum
level is never exceeded, because digital clipping makes distortions
of the sound. But if the level is too low you have to normalize the
file and this amplifies the noise. With many meters you cannot view
the record level good enough for exact level control.
This program pulles down a selectable level control of the soundcard's
mixer if the maximum level is reached (and may pull it up if the
sound gets more quiet later), this guarantees an optimal record level.
It can also be used if you have more than one soundcard (some programs
get in trouble then).
New in version 1.2:
A timer allows starting the record to a given time or to delimit
recording time.
The wave mapper can also be used and the meter can be taken from
the recorded wave data.
A command line version is included.
