DJ Console Beta 1.09

Written by Paul Turley, Feb, 1999

Thanks for trying out the DJ Console. Your comments and feedback are appreciated.

This program uses the Microsoft Windows Media Player technology. You must have the Media Player version 6 or better installed. As of this writing, the link to download the latest version is http://mskyus.www.conxion.com/msdownload/mplayer/5.2/rtw/x86/en/mpie4ful.exe. The site is at www.microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer.

If you have dowloaded the setup files from Shareware, per Shareware rules some required VB6 run-time files are not included. The VB run-time files may be downloaded separately from Shareware or you may download the entire workng application directly from our site at www.bergent.com/dj_console. Note that updates will also be available from this site in the future.

This application has been tested on a few different machines. Experience has shown that for acceptable performance you may need a processor faster than 166 Mhz with at least 64 MB of RAM.

The Basics
----------

There are three embedded media players on the console screen with associated faders. You may cue up to three different files, one in each player.

To open an audio file and cue it in a player, click the elipsis button (...) and select an audio file using the open file dialog window. Once you have selected a file from a folder, this will be the default folder for the remainder of the session. The name of the file (without the extension) is displayed to the right of the player and the player controls are enabled.

To start player a file, click the play button or press the letter key (A, B, or C) for the corresponding player.

Use the faders to control the level for each player.

Auto Fade
---------

The autofade feature lets you segue between two audio files with one click. While playing one piece with another cued, click the 'auto' button under the fader for the next piece. This will cause the other two faders to slide down while the player starts. Use the Reset Volume button to set the inactive faders to the default level (80%).

Plans for future versions
-------------------------

I would like to add VU meters and add a built-in CD player.

Given time, I would also like to use a database to create a play list.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Paul
