First things first...
Thanks for downloading my file transfer program. I hope it is of use to
you. Questions and comments are welcome at:

Program Installation:
Un-zip the file you downloaded into an existing directory or a seperate
directory that you created. Thats it. There is no install program. If you
wish you can create a desktop shortcut for ease of use.

Program Un-Install:
Delete the files you previously un-zipped. If you created a seperate
directory for this program, just delete all the files in that directory. Also
delete any shortcuts you created. Again, thats it, there is no uninstall
program.

Requirements:
You will need a null modem cable (or some combination of a straight
through cable, null modem adapter, and gender changer). These items are
available from Radio Shack for between $3 and $7.
The program has been tested on Windows NT 4.0 that had SP6, although
SP5 should work fine. It has also been tested on Windows 98 with no problems.
The program should work on 2000, 95, and even 3.1 (with win32s) although none
of these have been tested. I would appreciate e-mail on any of the above
operating systems. The program will not work on Macs or UNIX/LINUX systems.

Features:
This program features complete data verification. Each and every byte
is echoed back to the sending computer for verification before it is written.
If there is an error during send the computers will try to figure out how to
fix it. There is no guarantee that they will fix the problem, but the
program is fairly robust, and problems will generally be fixed.
The maximum port speed supported is 56K. The port setup however is
bi-directional so there is no penalty in speed for the data verification.
In tests, using the default port settings, transfers have gone at 54K (on
average) including program overhead.

Program Distribution:
If you give this program to anyone else, I insist that you give ALL files
in this distribution, specifically including this ReadMe.txt file. The program
will not run without 'Preferences.set' which is included in the .zip file
I also ask that if you like this program you send me $5. I guess that
makes this shareware with limitations on distribution. The $5 won't get
you a code to access more features. You have the full version of the program.
It's simply that it took a lot of time and beer to write this program and I
would like to re-coup some of these costs, and make the time I spent worth
while. If you do send the money - thank you. My address is:

Program Use:
     1) Install the program on both computers.
     2) Connect both PC's through their respective com ports with the null
         modem cable.
     3) Start the program on each PC.
     4) Set the direction on both programs. One computer must be the sender
while the other is the receiver. This option is brought up using the
main menu, setup, direction menu picks
     5) Set the port settings. Use main menu, setup, port select. The
only setting that probably needs to be changed is the port number. As
a note, when you exit the program these settings will be saved. When
you run the program the next time these settings will be recalled, so
you shouldn't have to mess with these again.
     6) On the sending computer use main menu, setup, select send file to select
         the file to send.
     7) On the receiving computer use main menu, setup, select receive
directory to set the destination directory for the save. The save
path is also saved on exit from the program. Unless you want to change
this the next time you run the program, you don't have to mess again
         either.
     8) Use main menu, go on the receiving computer. This MUST be done BEFORE
you use main menu, go on the receiving computer.
     9) Use Main menu, go on the sending computer.

The program will now transfer the file you specified, unless the file
already exists on the receiving computer, in which case the receiving
computer will ask you what you want to do.

Again, thanks for using my program.
