1. What is OnlineCost.exe.
--------------------------

OnlineCost.exe is a program which will read log modem contents and display informations such as the time you first connect, how long the connection you made and the price you have to pay to your Phone company and ISP (Internet Service Provider).

2. Installation.
----------------

Installation is done by clicking Setup.exe, and the Setup wizard then will guide you through the rest of the installation process.

If you install over the old version you have to make a backup copy of the ini file and delete OnlineCost link under start menu -> programs. As the installation program may override your ini file with the new one.

After the installation process you will get An icon in the SysTray which will check over the change in modem log.

This program is running on Win9x but i am not sure if it can be runned on Win NT, as I am not tested it myself. It's ok if you want to test, let me know if it works.

To uninstall, goto Add/Remove program in Control Panel, and search for OnlineCost then click Add/Remove button.

The VB6 runtime files (simvb6-5.zip and mfc4260.zip) needed for this program can be found at
this URL: http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html

Also the installer needs DCOM95/98 (use DCOM95 for WIN95 and DCOM98 for WIN98) installed in your system. DCOM95 can be found at http://download.microsoft.com/msdownload/dcom/95/x86/en/dcom95.exe and DCOM98 is at http://download.microsoft.com/msdownload/dcom/98/x86/en/dcom98.exe

3. How to use this program.
---------------------------

When you have finished the installation process, you have to restart your system, though its not necessary but its better if you do, because the system can reload your registry content.

First, this program would scan log contents and save the contents in DAT and the size, this is done by OCTray which stays in your sysTray to save the start time, so it won't read the modem log everytime you start this program. To open this program you can click OnlineCost icon in the systray or open the start button > click program > OnlineCost group > OnlineCost.

Before using this program, you have to firstly enter the path and name of the Modem log file (usually in the directory C:\Windows and the name of the log file is your modem name with an addition ".log", for example: "C:\Windows\33.6K External Voice Fax Modem.log" w/o the quote). Then enter price information of your local phone company and your provider. If there is a special discount on holiday given by you phone company then you have to include the date of the holiday in the holiday list by clicking the holiday button. And then include the price after it's deducted by the discount itself in the price list with a category of "Holiday". For Special day you have to do the same.

Select the date range and click search to display the result.

4. Status of the program.
-------------------------

This program is DONATURWARE, it means that users can use, copy and distribute this program as much as they like. But if they like this program, I hope they would send us US$10 for the contribution, so i can continue to support this program.

5. Distribution Status.
-----------------------

You can distribute this program as much as you like, as long as it is not intended for commercial purpose.
