1. DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:

Time On Line (TOL) is a 32 bit program which produces reports about your dial-up networking connections. It is perfect for keeping track of time and money spent connected to the internet or your company network. The program is designed to run on Windows 95, 98 or NT and uses the Modem Log File from your Windows Dial-Up Networking facility to calculate time on line. This means that TOL does not need to be running when you are on line. TOL can present an account of every dial-up connection made during a specified period. As well as auditing your ISP accounts, TOL is great for trouble shooting your modem settings. In fact TOL is a complete Modem Log Management utility and includes the following features:

Summary and Detail Reports of time on line including:
 * Total time, cost, data and sessions per dialled service per reporting period.
 * Average session time per dialled service.
 * Average time per day per dialled service.
 * Date, time, cost, duration, data read and written for every connection made.
 * User defined default report starting dates.
 * Breakdown of connection costs for 'Dial-up', 'Service' and 'Data'.

Dial-up Tariffs - up to 10 complex dial-up tariffs can be defined per dialled service. TOL supports the use of time 'Units' (as well as per minute rates) as used by many telephone companies throughout Europe. Holiday tariffs are also catered for by setting up user defined holiday periods.

ISP Flexi-rates - allows you to define complex Service Provider Flexi-rate charges with penalty rates and periods. TOL also supports 'Cost Free Periods' and 'Blocking' for those services that charge by the 'Block'.

Warnings - TOL provides user defined warnings (both visual and audible) for each defined service. Warnings can be set up for cost, data and time on-line thresholds

Data Volume Rates - handles costings based on 'per megabyte' of downloaded data including threshold volumes and periods.

Answered Calls - handles answered calls as well as dialled connections.

Corruption Detection and Repair - TOL will automatically detect corruption in your modem log file and provide you with the necessary tools to repair it.

Purging, Clearing, Optimising and Viewing - allowing you to make the most efficient use of your modem logs and maintain the reliability of your reporting system.

Archiving - logs can be saved allowing you to keep records going back years.

Fault Tolerance - TOL can compensate for missing log entries caused by failed sessions with user specified parameters.

Export - reports can be saved in plain text format so they can be used in other applications such as word processors.

Geographically Independent - handles any currency and date format by using your Windows regional settings.

Y2K Compliant - TOL is FULLY Year 2000 compliant.
