Thank you for downloading the Control Panel appLet Manager.
Please read the following information before using the product.

------------------------------------
PURPOSE
------------------------------------
This utility is for the enabling and disabling of the Add/Remove
Programs applet from appearing within Control Panel. Although the
applet will still function and is still there in its entirety, it just
isn't displayed within Contol Panel.

This does NOT prevent it from being run from the command line either.
e.g. C:\WINDOWS\CONTROL.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\APPWIZ.CPL.

------------------------------------
PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS
------------------------------------
This utility was written using Visual Basic 5.0 and as such requires
the Visual Basic 5.0 runtime files to operate. These files can be
obtained from the following sites/locations:

   www.microsoft.com
   www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html

------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
------------------------------------
Since our systems were rolled out by using a utility called Ghost, it made
it easy for us to pre-install the VB5 runtime modules required by this
utility. This allowed us to place the CPLM.EXE file on the network server
within a secured directory. In this manner it could be run on any machine
whenever needed. Simply extract CPLM.EXE and place it where ever you would
like. Just ensure that you have the VB5 runtime files in place before running
it.

------------------------------------
DISTRIBUTION STATUS
------------------------------------
This utility is being distributed as FREEWARE and as such I do not expect
that I will maintain it much beyond its initial release. For this reason
I must exclaim that this utility is to be used at your own risk. If it breaks
or causes something else to break, you get to keep the pieces. If you do use
the utility, I'd appreciate a small e-mail with your opinion.

Feel free to distribute it as much as you like, but please ensure that you
include this file for the next person.

------------------------------------
AUTHOR
------------------------------------
As I said above, I don't expect to support the utility much beyond its release.
But should you want/need to contact me I can be reached via e-mail at:

Enjoy!
