How does the Guide work?
------------------------
The Allyo Guide works by searching our directory
each time your web location changes significantly.
Normally this happens when you browse to a new internet
site. The URL (the web address) of where you are
browsing is sent to our directory server and is used
to search our directory. Once we have found some
related sites, we send them back to your browser as
a web page.

What information is sent to the Allyo servers?
Each request sent to our servers includes the location
where you are browsing. Sometimes the URL includes
information carried from the previous page. For example,
if you go to google and search for "mp3" your next
URL would probably be http://www.google.com/search?q=mp3.
We always remove everything after the "?" so any google
search would look like "http://www.google.com/search?"
to us. This is important because you probably don't want
others to know what you're searching for.

We also have a unique ID for each copy of the guide that
is run. This is a number that is generated when the guide
is installed and is included in the request from the guide
to the servers.

What do we do with the data?
----------------------------
As with most web sites, each request sent to us is logged
by the web server software. These logs are used to see
how many hits we are getting for daily, weekly and monthly
reports. We don't use these web logs for anything else and
they will be deleted after a couple of months. Similarly,
the unique guide ID is used to see how many different
installations are in use. We can then plan ahead and make
sure we have enough servers for the future.

Our search-engine software also logs the queries that are
made. These logs are mainly used for tracking bugs and
finding popular sites that don't have reviews. The logs
are also used to determine popular sites within certain
categories. Once we have enough information we will be
able to rank the sites that are shown with the most popular
listed first.

We don't pass on information to third parties
---------------------------------------------
The information that we collect is not passed on to third
parties, nor do we plan to in the future.
