0. About
WebStation is your personal web service and server. When You are online,
You can send and receive messages, files, start chat, surf the web with Your
friends. You can create new services and inroduce them to the web. Many other
features will be available soon. Anybody surfing the web and visiting
your page can talk to You and send You online or offline messages. You can
share WebStation with Your friends. Those who are online will receive
messages and meet each other in private or public chat. This software let
You get most features than other instant messaging services provide,
without using any third party server! You do not have to depend on any
service. To contact You people do not need to have the same software or to
use the same service! They need just Web Browser.
None of Your activities are tracked, like it is in some other
modern chat technologies. Everithing happening happens on Your PC only.
In next versions You will find better perfomance (it is very good even now),
better look (send suggestions), secure connections, distributed database
about open WebStations, more scalable web server, peer-to-peer web connection
of webstations, and a lot of new features.

1. Requirements.
To run WebStation, You need Windows 95, 98 or NT; internet
connection; about 1.5 Kb of personal web space, and less than 200 Kb on
Your Hard Drive.
Client requirements: Web browser with javascript enabled (Internet
Explorer 4.0 or higher, Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher are recommended)
Java support in not nessasary.

2. Installing WebStation 1.1 Demo.
1st, unzip the archive. (If You are reading this text, You've just
done it).
Run setup.bat.
Insert the link to 'smartlink.html' to Your homepage. Copy the contents of
smartlink directory to Your homepage location. (Upload contents of this
directory to Your homepage location, so that the link You added to Your
homepage to 'smartlink.html' works).
Run WebStation.
	To uninstall WebStation run uninstall.bat.

3. Configuring WebStation.
To configure WebStation, choose General Options from options menu.
You should specify Your name or nickname, maximum number of visitors for
Your WebStation, port for clients connections.
The port affects on the URL of Your WebStation.
If You use dialup access to internet, You probably have a dynamic ip.
To be accessible when online, You should post Your ip to Your web page
each time You get new IP. To do that, You may use IP posters
software or to use IP poster built in to WebStation. To enable IP poster
check 'Post dynamic IP on startup' box in General Options. Then specify
the host hosting Your homepage and a directory there. For example, I have
a page http://uic.nnov.ru/~koav110/station/station.html, so I will write
uic.nnov.ru/~koav110/station to the 'FTP of Your homepage' edit box.
Than specify Your ftp username and password there. (In Demo, password is
written to config file as plain text, be carefull. (If You use Your Personal
PC, don't be scared ;))
If You are good at html, You may modify the code of 'smartlink.html'
or complitely remove it. The idea is that when You are online, The link
to WebStation is posted to Your homepage in the javascript module
(see data.js and datag.js in smartlink directory.) You may use them in Your
own html code to configure access to WebStation.

4. Using WebStation.
When You run WebStation first time, You will have to configure it
(see section 3 for details.)
After configuring, WebStation will act like Your web server (put Your pages
to client/pub directory, and they will be served) If client browser requests
a file like http://your_computer:port/pub/page.html, hi or she will get
requested page. If he or she requests something like
http://your_computer:port/page.html he will enter Your WebStation and will
be able to talk to You and to send messages.
So, the main use of WebStation Demo is to get fast feedback ant
easy contact online with people observing Your page.
Please Do not edit html files in 'client' directory. WebStation
Pro allows user to configure WebStation behavior via editing those files
but Demo do not. It will still be working, but sometimes it will show
visitors corrupted pages if You edit them.
