============
Distribution
============

Caldonia is distributed as shareware. You are allowed to use the program
without registration for evaluation purposes. If you decide to keep using
the program, you have to purchase a licence. Visit http://caldonia.com to
learn how to do it.

The evaluation period is not limited. However, every time you start the
Caldonia server, a popup dialog will remind you that you are using an
unregistered copy. During evaluation, only a single user can use Caldonia.
After you purchase a licence, we will send you your personal licence key,
which will unlock the evaluation copy for required number of users.

You may distribute the evaluation version of Caldonia, provided that you do
not modify the program or the accompanying documentation, including this file.
You may not commercially distribute, sublicense, resell, or otherwise transfer
for any consideration, or reproduce for any such purposes, the Caldonia
software or any modification or derivation thereof.

Always visit http://caldonia.com to download the latest version of Caldonia.

The file caldon12.exe is a setup program. Simply run the setup program and
follow the onscreen instructions. Uninstallation program, to remove Caldonia
from your computer, is also provided.

============
Requirements
============

The Caldonia server requires Windows 95, 98 or NT.

Caldonia ver. 1.02 stores the data in a MS Access database. Therefore you
need to have a MS Access ODBC driver installed. ODBC drivers are usually
installed with MS Office or different compilers, and chances are that you
already have it. If you do not have MS Access ODBC driver (see Control Panel/
ODBC), or if you need to upgrade, download and install MDAC2.x from Microsoft
(http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm).

To use Caldonia, you need to run Netscape 4.0 or higher, Internet Explorer 5.0
or higher, or Opera 3.6 browser.

================================
Configuring and Running Caldonia
================================

Once you have installed the program, configure the port that the Caldonia server
will use. From the Start menu, select Start/Programs/Caldonia/Configure.
Default port number for the http protocol is 80. You may need to set the port
to a different number, if you already run a service that uses the default port.

Start the Caldonia server (Start/Programs/Caldonia/Caldonia Server). An icon
indicating that the server is running should appear shortly in the system tray
on the taskbar. If that does not happen, view the log file (Start/Programs/
Caldonia/View Log File). The log file entries usually explain what went wrong.
If you are unable to resolve the problem, forward the log file to us.

Start your web browser and connect to the Caldonia server. If you run the
browser on the same machine as the Caldonia server, simply point the browser
to http://127.0.0.1 . In case that you have changed the port from 80 to a
different number, point your browser to http://127.0.0.1:xx, where'xx' is the
configured port number. If the Caldonia server is running on a different machine
in your network, point your browser to that machine's IP address and selected
port, such as http://192.168.1.13 or http://192.168.1.13:8087 or whatever it
may be.

To stop the Caldonia server, click on its icon in the system tray and select
'Stop' from the popup menu.

The login screen should now have appeared in your web browser. Log in, using
username "admin", password "admin", without the quotes. Usernames and passwords
are case sensitive.
