OfficeView Pro Installation Information

This program will allow up to 5 names. A trial version with 100 name capacity
is available. Contact our support web page.

Here are the installation instructions.

First, create a dedicated shared directory for OfficeView Pro on your file
server. It is best to avoid using space characters in the path name. Give
all OfficeView Pro users full (execute, read, write, delete and create)
privileges on the shared directory. We recommend that you unzip the download
file into the directory on the server.

To install the OfficeView Pro files on the shared network directory, select
Run from the Start menu on the task bar on any workstation that has access
to the shared directory. Enter the path and name of the install program,
"OVP.exe". Press Enter and follow the on-line instructions. When asked to
specify a directory, you can use the Browse button to locate the network
server directory. The OfficeView Pro Setup program installs within seconds.

Now you are ready to enter information into the program. To do so, use the
Start menu/Program/OfficeView Pro shortcut to run the OfficeView Pro program
(Ovpro.exe) and log on as "Admin" using either the password "cbAweiVeciffO"
(in reverse, OfficeViewAbc).. If the logon screen does not appear when you
start the program, select " Log Out" on the "Actions" menu to bring the logon
screen into view. To populate the board with user names, click on "Actions"
and "Add Name" or type Ctrl+N and type the name. The screen that prompts you
to add each user name will also enable you to set the options to be given to
each user. Click on the Add button to display the Employee Information screen.
If you like, you can leave this screen for employees to complete themselves.
Finally, click on Close to add the name to the database. After you have
entered all the names, it is prudent to make a backup copy of the OfficeView
Pro shared directory.

To give 32-bit workstations access to OfficeView, open the Network Neighborhood
icon on the desktop and browse to the OfficeView Pro server directory. Find
the workstation installation program (setupWS.exe) and run it by mouse double
clicking the mouse. The program adds an OfficeView Pro folder to the Programs
menu on the taskbar Start button.

OfficeView Pro assigns a blank password to employees allowing them to log on
without entering a password. Normally, users will then choose a password of
their choice.

Once the program is setup, you may want to adjust the file access rights.
Only the administrator needs to have execution rights to OVP.exe (the
installation program). For the program ovpro.exe, give only execution
access rights. For O.exe, use read only access. Finally, all the database
files (*.dbf, *.dbt) should have read/write access.

Admin mode is useful only for administrative purposes and should not be used
for every day use because many of the normal functions are disabled.

If you are using the Windows 95 operating system, you need to apply a
Microsoft patch to fix a network caching problem that will eventually
cause database file damage. Blank messages are usually the first indication
that you have faulty Windows 95 network software. If the message screen is
incomplete, most likely the message database is damaged. Deleting all
messages may removed the damage. To prevent this problem from occurring,
apply the virtual redirector update available from Microsoft at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/VREDRUPD.EXE .

If you have any questions or need any further information, I will be happy
to help.
