Linux UDMA Kernal Patch Readme
Version 1.0

The original patch was distributed on CD-ROM - that's why there are references to
the patch CD-ROM. Just ignore those references and use instead the files you got
from the IA Developers website.

You can ignore the references to linux-2.3.40.tar.gz and block.tar.gz. They are for
applying the patch *without* using the PATCH command. You should just use the
PATCH command method outlined in the document. Also, ignore the 2.3.40
instructions. Use the instructions for the 2.2.13 upgrade. That should work in your
2.2.14 or 2.2.16 kernel. When using RedHat distributions, you probably need to
use the attached PATCH2 executable instead of the PATCH executable in the
distribution.

Another thing - when a patch fails (like when you got those hunk errors), you must
reinstall your "block" source tree since the failed patch ruins it.

When patch seemed to work in 2.2.16, if you are unable to find and select Cx5530
as a block device DMA controller in "make menuconfig", then the patch didn't work
correctly.
