****** RT-101 Additional Notes
Release version 1.2

This notes provides information on additional configuration settings which
have been added to the RT-101 configuration menu due to the support
LAN-to-LAN operation.

If you wish to configure the RT-101 for LAN-to-LAN operation, complete the
configuration as described in the RT-101 user's manual, then configure the
LAN-to-LAN parameter as follows.

To access the LAN-to-LAN parameters, simply select the [Advanced Settings]
option from the main configuration screen.

*** Note:
Please be noted that, if you are going to use the RT-101 for Internet
access, please do not modify these options from their default settings.

*LAN-to-LAN:
Set this option to Yes to enable the RT-101 LAN-to-LAN function, then
configure the following parameters. If you will be using the RT-101 to
access the Internet from your local LAN, set this option to No.

** Security
This option allows you to define which Point-to-Point authorization
protocol will be used to determine whether or not the remote node has
the right to access the local LAN. The available options are PAP, CHAP
and None.

PAP: Provides a low lever 2-way handshaking security measure to authenticate
the remote node attempting to establish a connection.

CHAP: Provides a high level security measure using 3-way handshaking and an
encryption method to authenticate the remote node attempting to
establish a connection. If CHAP is enabled, it must be supported by
the remote node or the RT-101 will not negotiate a connection.

None: Please be noted that, setting the security option to None will render
your LAN defenseless against unauthorized access.

** User ID:
Enter the name of the remote router. This name will be used to negotiate a
connection with the remote router using PPP (Point to Point Protocol). When
the local router sneds a user name authentication request, the remote router
must respone with this name or the connection will be terminated.

** Password:
Enter the password of the remote router. This password will be used to
negotiatte a connection with the remote router using PPP. (Point to Point
Protocol) When the local router sends a password authentication request,
the remote router must respond with this password or the connection will
be terminated.

** Default Gateway:
Enter the default gateway IP address. The default gateway is the first
router in the path to the remote LAN.

** Answer On String
Also note that to support incoming calls from the remote LAN, the Answer
On String should be set to ATS0=n, where in is the number of rings before
answering. Setting n=0 will disable incoming calls.
